#1 Hi chaps, so after happily running my Quad 33/303 with my Kef Coda 3's i saved a bit of dosh and bought a lovely pair of Ditton 44's. I wired it all up and after 2 songs the tweeter on the right blew. When i say blew, it just stopped working, no dramatics. They worked perfect when i auditioned them form the guy who was selling them, gutted.

I found them lacking a bit when I converted to low-powered tubes. That said, I liked them better than Ditton 25s as the 44s lack the bass radiator, which I found was not compatible with my room (yeah, maybe I should have tried treating the room first). One complaint about the Ditton 25/44/66 is the HF2000 tweeter, which seems to blow easily.

But the Ditton 44 is a 3-way system with the tweeter crossed over at 5 kHz. A 19 mm tweeter appears to be a better choice than a 25 mm one, in this system (but maybe not in other systems which use the HF2000 but cross over at a lower frequency.)

Well, as some know I picked up a pair of Celestion Ditton 44's last week courtesy of eBay. I tested them at the sellers house all okay, wired them in at home everything was fine then that evening one tweeter decided to suddenly go open circuit :scratch: A quick dissection showed the actual voice coil was black & crumbled to dust when touched so repair was off the cards !
